Nestled at the top of greater Capitol Hill, there’s a unique neighborhood within a neighborhood: 15th Avenue. There are many interesting businesses that enjoy the quieter heights of the 15th Avenue; and of these businesses, I would like to introduce to you Liberty, a comfy neighborhood bar that has a great menu of artisan cocktails and tasty and artful sushi.

Quality cocktails are the primary focus of Liberty, and the extensive drink menu shows this intent. At Liberty, the cocktails have juice made with only fresh fruit, juiced for each drink as they are ordered. There is no comparison for a fresh-fruit cocktail, and Liberty knows what it's doing when great cocktails are in order.

Each drink takes advantage of not just the fresh fruit, but of quality ingredients, using what old-school bartenders call ‘pre-prohibition cocktails’. These drinks do not rely upon syrupy liquors or the ubiquitous chemical additive triple sec to make his cocktails delicious. Many people have noted how their favorite cocktails taste better at Liberty; this is attributed to the freshness of the juice, the lack of syrupy additives, and the care taken when mixing these drinks. Liberty serves various wines from different countries, focusing on inexpensive and tasty wines; the wine list changes monthly and patrons may consult their server to view the current selection. Local beers are served on tap and various others (Belgian-style ales, etc) are available in the bottle.

Sushi is also a chief feature at Liberty, where the menu shows classic favorites, such as the California Roll using fresh crab, here called the “WaxOn” after one of Liberty’s neighbors, WaxOn Spa. Another great choice are the Sonic Boom rolls – the spicy tuna or the spicy scallop – named after the local record stores, Sonic Boom Records. Liberty prides itself for its delicious, creative and artful sushi, made every day until 2am, seven days a week – the only sushi served late night in the entire city.

Stop on by Liberty and meet your neighbors.
